BACK 2 SCHOOL
At the beginning of the school year, every child (Kindergarten thru 9th Grade) will receive a new school uniform/clothes, school supplies and hygiene products. These kids have enough challenges in life as it is, so if they can start the school year off well prepared and feeling confident in themselves, they will do better in school and get better grades.
Pair of shoes
Package of underwear
Package of socks
Each child who attends our Christmas party will receive new toys, a stocking filled with goodies and treats, new pajamas, and a chance to meet Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.
2020: We will NOT be having a Christmas party this year. The ADOPT A FAMILY program has been discontinued.
Various needs can occur at any time and so our Family Matters Program helps with those needs. One portion that falls under this program is that we assist with household needs such as laundry detergent, toilet paper, toothpaste, shampoo and other household supplies. We will provide a "household box" on an emergency/as needed basis.
At the beginning of the school year, a few kids are given a challenge to get good grades in school. If they achieve this goal, they are rewarded with a week at summer camp in Northern Arizona (near Mormon Lake). They will roast marshmallows, hike, fish, kayak, horseback ride, learn outdoor skills, etc. This is will be an experience of a lifetime that they will never forget.
Phoenix Children’s Project provides them with all the supplies they will need including sleeping bag, canteen, hiking boots, swim trunks, backpack, sunscreen, etc.
Every Saturday of each week, children ages 5-15 are welcome to join us at the center to take part in activities such as arts and crafts, sports, playground time, etc.
The children enjoy coming to the center where we also provide lunch, snacks and dessert.
When a mother of one of our children is expecting a new baby, we provide a diaper bag filled with items needed to welcome the baby into the world. Each new diaper bag contains new-baby essentials, such as diapers, wipes, bottles, sleepers, lotion, etc.
Any household with children under the age of 18 may receive a food box. Each food box contains a few days worth of food which includes meat and other food items the family can prepare at home.
We receive food donations from Midwest Food Bank and also accept meat and food donations from individuals. If you would like to donate food to us, let us know and we will send you a list of needed items.
Our Easter prgram has changed, please reach out to us at HelpingKids@PhoenixChildren.org for more information on how to help this Easter.
Children ages 3 - 13 years receive a wrapped birthday gift and goodies on their birthday. In many cases, our gift is the only one the child will receive to celebrate their special day.
